Are you just beginning your plastic surgery journey?

Did you look in the mirror one day and decide you had enough?

Maybe a friend had surgery and you saw how much happier she is now.

However you’ve come to the decision that plastic surgery might be an option for you, here is some advice.

The first step in your journey is a visit to your own primary doctor.

Many plastic surgeons will cancel your surgery, even at the last minute, if you are not healthy enough for the operation. They don’t want you to have complications or a bad result.

Some tests you might request:

Iron levels

EKG / ECG (measure heart health)

Your iron levels will have to be normal and your blood sugar should be well controlled.

Many surgeons will also require that you quit ingesting nicotine before and after surgery (smoking and vaping).

Many ladies make the costly mistake of skipping this step and jumping straight to booking their surgery. They arrange child care, take sick time off of work and pay their deposit, only to have surgery cancelled because of low iron levels, a positive nicotine test or too high BMI. Don’t let this happen to you.

The second step is to work toward having the healthiest possible body on the day of surgery.

Some aspects of health that you can control include nutrition, exercise and stress reduction.

Nutrition — There is solid research on nutritional needs before and after surgery. Scientists know what nutrients your body needs to heal. You can find research and delicious recipes in the Southern California Plastic Surgery Cookbook — the class. https://plasticsurgeryrecoverymassage.teachable.com/p/southern-california-plastic-surgery-cookbook-the-class/

OK, now you’re ready to interview your plastic surgeon. Your surgeon will be happy when you show them you are improving your iron levels, reducing nicotine usage and serious about using exercise and nutrition to heal after your operation.
